Lloyd has been the operational head of the Workroom since he-co-founded it with Michael Tavano in1998. His encyclopedic knowledge of every aspect of luxury custom window treatments, upholstery and home automation is complemented by his team of top notch in-house artisans.

Interior designer Michael Tavano couldn’t find fabrication at the level he desired for his design practice, until he and Lloyd founded the Workroom. At the time he had his own eponymous line of linens in top stores such as Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Harvey Nichols, and he had set the bar high for hand-craftsmanship, delicate embroidery, pristine pleating and hand-finished hems. Now, he lends his expertise and meticulous eye to solving the most complex decorating challenges faced by the blue-chip design clients of Marks & Tavano Workroom, many of which, he jokes, “just tend to happen around windows.”Â

Giving back to the design community and to charitable causes both related and unrelated to the industry is a top mission of the Workroom. Both Lloyd and Michael serve on the Friends Committee of The Alpha Workshops and the Board of Directors of the Max Michael Rosenfield Foundation. Additionally the Workroom takes great pride in supporting the efforts of many worthy causes including Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS, New York School of Interior Design, Bailey House and Housing Works.
One of 15 DIFFA tables created by Michael and Lloyd, features outrageous plastic and fur upholstery, automated color-changing walls made of window shades, custom napkins and transparent draperies, all handcrafted at the Marks & Tavano Workroom.
